Pallet racking

Definition

Pallet racking systems are storage racks designed for storing goods on pallets. The structure of pallet racking is developed based on customer requirements, taking into account specific load capacities and dimensions.

Use of pallet racking

Pallet racking systems are primarily intended for storing goods in large-volume packaging (pallets, gitter boxes, etc.) with higher weight, allowing storage up to the maximum possible height depending on warehouse capacity. A pallet racking system is ideal if:

  • you need to have constant access to all your warehouse items,
  • you need to store items of various dimensions, sizes, and weights,
  • you accumulate goods at floor level and want to utilize upper levels for stock storage.

The most commonly used form of pallet racking is multi-bay storage, where 2 to 4 pallets are placed side by side within one rack bay. When storing reserve stock and full pallets, pallets are stored lengthwise to allow better access during partial picking.

Crosswise storage is generally preferred to save warehouse space. Pallet racking systems are available on the market in various configurations, most commonly used in warehouses with wide aisles.
