Freight transport
Definition
Freight transport represents a method of distributing and transporting goods. Freight transport includes, for example, road transport, rail transport, maritime transport, and air transport. Through freight transport, international trade is shaped, and its volume is determined. The better the freight transport is organized, the more international trade cooperation can expand. From a practical point of view, it involves transporting commodities from point A to point B.
Each type of freight transport has its advantages
Road transport, dominated by trucks, is advantageous due to its flexibility and ability to deliver goods directly "from door to door."
In contrast, rail transport is ideal for moving large volumes of goods over long distances in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way than truck transport.
Maritime transport is invaluable for international trade. Although slower, it allows the shipment of massive quantities of goods between continents.
Last but not least, when very fast delivery is required, air transport provides the quickest option, although it is among the most expensive. Choosing the right type of freight transport depends on many factors – from the type of goods to the required delivery speed and budget.
