The Trenčín Region with an area of ​​4,501.8 km² and a share of 9.2% in the Slovak Republic is one of the smaller regions. It is located in the northwest of Slovakia. The western part of the region is the state border with the Czech Republic. The south of the region borders the Trnava region and the Nitra region, the east with the Banská Bystrica region and the north with the Žilina region.

According to the number of inhabitants, the Trenčín Region was one of the smaller regions in Slovakia. As of 31 December 2019, the population of the region reached the value of 584,569, which represented 10.7% of the Slovak population. The population density per 1 km² was 130 inhabitants.

The Trenčín region has an industrial-agricultural character, which places high demands on the availability of labor. In 2019, the economically active population represented 50.6%. The rate of economic activity was equal to 58.7%. Since 2013, the employment rate has increased to 71%, the unemployment rate has decreased in the same period and was the second lowest rate in Slovakia (2.9%) in 2019. The level of average nominal monthly earnings was 6.5%. lower than the average in Slovakia and reached EUR 1,180.

From the transport point of view, road and railway routes leading to Považie are important. The main railway line Bratislava - Žilina - Košice runs through the territory. A motorway bypass was built around Trenčín as part of the D1 motorway passing through the entire territory of Považie. Road and rail connections with the Czech Republic are also important. The regional road network consists of 1,884 km of roads, motorways and expressways, which make up 5.3%. 349,090 motor vehicles were registered at the district traffic inspectorates. More than 72% of them were passenger cars.

Education was provided by a network of school facilities consisting of 292 kindergartens, 194 primary schools, 18 grammar schools and 37 secondary vocational schools in 2019. The regional college was A. Dubček University in Trenčín and DTI University in Dubnice nad Váhom. education.
